DISCOVERY: Reveling in the Rise of Women

On the afternoon of March 16, 2025 two hundred people gathered in person at Unity: SF and online to celebrate Women’s History Month. This two-hour inspiring, soul-filling, song resonating soulful speaker salon called Rugged Elegance Presents…DISCOVERY “Reveling in the Rise of Women” was made possible by Jennifer Carolyn King, Timothy Fredel and Allison Berardi of the Rugged Elegance Foundation and their partners, Mwangi Mukami of MLIFE Foundation and JD Schramm of JD Schramm Communications. 

Five female founders / ceos took to the Discovery: “Reveling in the Rise of Women” stage to share their extraordinary stories:  

  • Zubaida Bai, CEO, Grameen Foundation
  • Ashlie Bryant, Co-Founder, President & CEO, 3Strands Global Foundation
  • Julie Gordon White, Founder & CEO, Menowell
  • Jessica P. Hansen, CEO/Executive Director, Alliance for Smiles
  • Holly Ruxin, Founder & CEO, Montcalm

Each of these women harnessed the power of the pause at The Retreat: SF – having been given a “Day to Breathe” – to achieve clarity before moving forward to catalyze their businesses, movements, and initiatives to drive collective impact and create something that’s never before existed.

Timothy Fredel formally launched The Butterfly Effect Fund — where social impact entrepreneurs meet exponential growth. From a pool of 140 visionaries nurtured through the “Day to Breathe” accelerator at The Retreat: SF, forty extraordinary enterprises now form this revolutionary portfolio.

Jennifer Carolyn King, president of the Rugged Elegance Foundation and co-founder of The Butterfly Effect Fund together with Allison Berardi, Lead Coach Curator of a “Day to Breathe” at Rugged Elegance Retreats co-mc’d the inspiring event. Women left dancing and sobbing!
