Warren Wilson College Pine Ridge Service Trip (2013)

Conscious Alliance began hosting service trips for Warren Wilson College students in the Fall of 2007. While students were there, they worked in our food pantry—restocking shelves, cleaning & organizing. They visited Lakota elders’ homes doing simple repairs, clean-up jobs and building fences. These service trips allowed students to study and learn from appointed buffalo chief, Floyd Hand who showed them there are other ways in life and the value in living life differently. He also taught them native traditions and spiritual practices. Many of the students from our early service trips moved to Colorado to continue this work and became some of our first interns, helping us build our foundation.
